MASCOT - Mini All-Sky Cloud Observation Tool

Summary

MASCOT is the All-Sky Monitor of the Paranal Observatory. It delivers every three minutes images of the complete night time sky mainly to allow the detection of clouds.

All-Sky Images

This is an example of a MASCOT all-sky image. Interestingly, a meteor has been recorded in this image.

Other examples are found in the image gallery.

All MASCOT images are available from the ESO Archive. Follow the 'Archive' link in the menu, enter a date of interest in the 'Night' field and select MASCOT in the 'Instrument' field to retrieve all files of that night.
