ADVANCED DATA PRODUCTS (ADP)

10 - 12 DECEMBER 2024

GARCHING NEAR MUNICH, GERMANY

Advanced Data Products (ADP, or High-Level Science Products) have been used by the astronomy community since a long time, but are less common in the radio community. One of their advantages, however, is that having access to them reduces significantly the time of publications. They help increase the quality of science by users as they were generated by experts who know the systen to a much better level, and reduce the requirement on computing resources for the community.

With the foreseen arrival of new, major radio observatories (e.g. SKA, ngVLA) and the planned significant increase in capabilities of current observatories (e.g. ALMA2030), ADPs will become even more relevant to the radio community (and maybe even critical), especially as the amount of data is increasing, such that there is potentially a huge benefit in starting to prepare the grounds already today.

The purpose of this workshop is to create a forum of discussion between various leading international observatories, and between those observatories and the community, to start planning for the future of ADPs for radio astronomy.

An important outcome of the meeting will be a white paper on ADPs for radio astronomy,  synthesising the group discussions and presenting a consensus on the current and future needs for ADPs. As such, topics of discussion will be diverse, yet in connection with ADPs, and may include: ADP pipeline, algorithms, quality assurance, archive, data format, the comparison of observatory ADPs vs community ADPs.

There will be a registration fee to be paid. Please see link Registration Fee payment under Quick Links.

  • Eur 100 for attendance in person, Eur 50 for remote attendance.

The workshop will be held at the ESO headquarters in Garching near Munich in Telescopium Auditorium (in front of ESO main entrance).

Remote attendees will be able to link throughTeams.
