The workshop will be held in the old Auditorium at ESO, Karl-Schwarzschild-Str. 2, Garching b. München.

Travelling to Garching

Garching lies about 13 km north-east of Munich and 17 km south-westof Munich international airport  (Franz Josef Strauss). Please follow these instructions to travel to Garching.

Instructions for travelling to the workshop venue

We advise all participants to travel to the workshop venue with the underground train (U-Bahn), line U6. The U-Bahn stationin Garching is centrally located and within close reach of all hotels and is indicated with a large blue "U"-sign. Take the underground train (U-Bahn) line U6, with destination "Garching Forschungszentrum" (Garching Research Campus) - this is the last stop on the line. Exit the station at the rear end of the train and follow the sign for ESO (see map). Here is some more information on the use of public transport. Timetables can be found here.

Registration

Registration will take place on Wednesday, 15 April 2015, between 12:00 and 13:00 in front of the old Auditorium.

Poster Papers

The poster papers will be on display in the area in front of the auditorium for the duration of the workshop. The display area available per poster is limited to 60 cm (w) x 100 cm (h). Hence the accepted poster size is A1 (59.4 cm x 84.1 cm).

Internet and email

Open wireless internet is available in most parts of the ESO building.

Social Events

• WELCOME RECEPTION - Wednesday

  In front of the old Auditorium at ESO on Wednesday evening, April 15, after the last session.

• WORKSHOP DINNER - Thursday

  At the "Rondell" (Bürgerhaus), Bürgerplatz 9, in the centre of Garching on Wednesday evening, 9 October, 19:00. All workshop participants are invited to join, without additional charge. The cost for accompanying persons is EUR 40 which may be paid IN CASH at the time of registration.

• BIER & BREZ'N" - Friday

  Beer and brez'n" will be served in front of the old Auditorium after the last session.

Lunch

Light lunch (sandwiches) will be served in the area in front of the old Auditorium every day of the workshop at 12h30.

Bank service

There are banks and cash-points in Garching. All main credit and debit cards are accepted (with PIN code). Please note that the banks may close during lunch time and have otherwise opening hours grossly different from shops.

Weather

Munich weather in March unfortunately tends to be cool to cold and wet. So you should come prepared for this. Daytime temperatures are anywhere between 0-10 C. For more information, see Weather Online.
