Bringing together the extragalactic community in Chile - Workshop
Bringing together the extragalactic community in Chile
12-13 December, 2023
ESO Vitacura, Chile
This workshop will bring together a group of astronomers with expertise in the study of star formation and galaxy evolution at high redshift (Cosmic Noon and beyond, with a focus on higher redshifts). The goal of the workshop is to promote collaboration and develop a roadmap for future research in this field.
The workshop will begin with a round of introductions by the participants, in which they will outline their research interests and expertise in the study of high-redshift galaxies. This will be followed by a discussion of the key scientific questions that need to be answered in order to better understand galaxy formation and evolution at high redshift. The participants will then work together to develop a research plan that will address these questions.
The workshop will also discuss strategies for acquiring the data needed to answer these questions. This could involve submitting joint large proposals, submitting smaller, complementary proposals, or developing alternative approaches. The participants will also discuss how to divide the research plan into manageable chunks and identify who would be in charge of each chunk.
The workshop is expected to be a hands-on, productive and stimulating event to design roadmaps to advance our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution at high redshift.
