Conclusion
Up to now, triangulation sensors have been used for the alignment of the CCDs inside of the following instruments :
- Wide Field Imager (mosaic of 9 CCDs)
- UVES Red (mosaic of 2 CCDs) and UVES Blue (1 CCD)
- VIMOS (4 cameras with 1 CCD each)
- 2 x 2 mosaic of 2k x 2k Loral CCDs for the University of Copenhagen.
This measuring device enables accurate measurement of CCDs in an automated way. We consider it to be a valuable resource for European astronomical community. Institutions interested in using it for their projects should contact the author.
