ESPRESSO Commissioning

The commissioning runs of ESPRESSO started on 27 November 2017 with the ESPRESSO first light, and ended on 26 July 2019, after three major technical missions, when discontinuities in radial velocities might be expected.

This page provides a link to scientifically useful data obtained during those runs.

Commissioning data can be used as a reference for planning future observations and also possibly for scientific work. However, it needs to be noted that the data were obtained when the instrument setup and software were tested and may therefore have some limitations. The observing times may not be optimal, the file headers may be incomplete and not homogenous, etc.
