Online workshop with ESO hosted projects at the La Silla-Paranal Observatory

ESO on-line workshop with hosted projects and visitor instruments PIs at the La-Silla Paranal Observatory

ESO Garching, 30th November and 1st December 2026

The aim of this workshop is to carry out a status report of the ongoing hosted projects and visitor instruments at the La Silla/Paranal Observatory, whose operations entails either archival of raw or ingestion of science data products. The program includes also hosted projects/instruments whose hosting agreement is finalized: they are invited so that they can share their understanding on what went well, as well as short comings, with the goal to provide a guide for future hosted projects or visitor instruments. The workshop will be an opportunity for the teams to showcase the science achieved by these projects, review their operational needs and address the ESO policies for their operations (including the delivery and publication of their science data products in the ESO science archive via Phase 3). It will be an opportunity to share the lesson learnt items, to improve efficiency and success, and learn about the P3 process.

There will be a follow-up report to the ESO STC on the status of the hosted projects/ visitor instruments in April 2027.

The workshop will take place on line to allow remote participation from 1 pm CET at the ESO Headquarters in Garching (Germany) and on Mteams on November 30th and December 1st, 2026.
