360° night sky over Cerro Armazones
Fish-eye view of the night sky taken from the site-testing facilities at Cerro Armazones, the selected site for the planned Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). With its 40-metre-class diameter mirror, the ELT will be the world’s biggest eye on the sky. The Milky Way and the Large Magellanic Cloud are visible in the upper part of the image.
