Dusk in the mountains

The sun sets at ESO's first observatory, La Silla, which is located 600km north of Santiago de Chile at an altitude of 2400 metres. Among the many telescopes and instruments hosted at this observatory are the New Technology Telescope and the High Accuracy Radial velocity Planet Searcher, enabling astronomers to take advantage of the excellent viewing conditions to study the Universe.
