La Silla's rocky landscape
Harsh, rock-strewn landscape surrounds ESO's La Silla Observatory, located on the outskirts of the Chilean Atacama desert. Below a speckled night sky, the brilliantly white domes of ESO's 3.6-metre telescope are easily recognisable from this unique angle.
