Colourful solar edges at sunset in Paranal
Four different types of colors on solar edge during sunset, caused by the atmospheric refraction over the Pacific Ocean as seen from ESO Paranal Observatory. Upper left — small blue rim/fragment can be seen above the solar disc. Upper right — dramatic green fragment and rim appeared few seconds after. Lower left — red rim and fragment appeared just before the sun touched the horizon (green rim can be seen as well), lower right — very prominent green fragment finished this dramatic sunset. Captured on 6 July 2019.
