Cerro Armazones

This 360 degree panorama image shows the 3046-metre-high Cerro Armazones, located just 20 kilometres east of Paranal in the Chilean Atacama Desert. This has been selected as the future site for the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). With a primary mirror 39 metres in diameter, the ELT will be the world's largest eye on the sky.
