ALMA and the Milky Way

The Milky Way, majestic and magical, snakes across the sky in a glowing arc above the Chajnantor plateau in Chile's Atacama Desert. In the foreground is one of the more exotic inhabitants of this desolate region — one of the 66 dishes making up the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA).
