Auxiliary Telescope
One of the Auxiliary Telescopes (AT) of ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT) sits under a clear sky at the Paranal Observatory, with the Magellanic Clouds visible above. The path leading from the foreground to the AT is part of the tracks along which it can move to various observing locations. The ATs have mirrors 1.8 metres in diameter, and their movability is unique for telescopes of this size.
