ALMA replica model on display

A replica model of one of ALMA's (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) antennas and one of the transporters is displayed in the ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre. The real antennae are 12-metres in diameter and 54 of them, along with 12 smaller 7-metre diameter antennae make up ALMA.

The exhibition The Living Universe covers the topic of life in the Universe in the broadest sense. It connects visitors with topics that can seem very distant and abstract by focusing on the human–Universe connection, general astronomy, life in the Universe, and how we observe the Universe using ESO facilities.
