View above the Swedish/ESO Submillimetre Telescope

A reddish hue — called airglow — fills the sky above the decommissioned Swedish/ESO Submillimetre Telescope (SEST), located at ESO's La Silla Observatory in northern Chile. The unmistakable green glow of a distant comet, the majestic Milky Way and the Magellanic Clouds adorn the night sky in this equirectangular panorama image.
