Teamwork to build the VLT
A team of volunteers work together to build the 8.2-metre Unit Telescopes (UTs) of ESO's Very Large Telescope — out of LEGO®! Each UT comprises exactly 3104 parts (plus a substantial amount of time and patience). The completed model of the entire Paranal platform was recently handed over to ESO and is on display at the ESO Headquarters in Garching, Germany.
