La Silla scatter

Some of La Silla's telescopes are scattered across this image. In the front is the Danish 1.54-metre telescope that has been in use at La Silla since 1979. Behind it we can see the MPG/ESO 2.2-metre telescope with a silver dome and the decommissioned ESO 1-metre Schmidt telescope with a white dome. Slightly higher up and further away are the New Technology Telescope (NTT) with its angular housing and the ESO 3.6-metre telescope. In the distance we can also see the 15-metre dish of the Swedish-ESO Submillimetre Telescope (SEST) that was decommissioned in 2003.
