Naidu Bezawada at ESO Headquarters laboratories

The image focuses on a man with a blue pullover working at ESO's laboratories. The laboratory is painted white, but is extremely busy with instruments and cables. The man appears handling a couple of small objects in front of a large metallic machine on the right, almost as tall as the man himself. The image is cut in the middle by a metallic column which appears to be part of the lab's infrastructure. Besides him lies a spherical golden orb bigger than a football, seemingly attached to a small reprostand.

Dr. Naidu Bezawada inspects an instrument that is helping the development of ESO's future ELT. This is a fibre light source system, which will be characterising the infrared detectors for ELT's instrument MICADO.
