Early construction on VLT
The image shows the top ring of the main structure mounted and aligned, already painted in its definitive silver colour (the interior part that faces the optical path will later be painted black to minimise internal optical reflections). The photograph was taken at the Ansaldo Energia premises in Milan (Italy).
