Cerro Armazones at sunset. The mountain will be home to ESO's newest and largest telescope, the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). Once completed the ELT will be the largest optical/near-infrared telescope in the world, allowing astronomers to study some of the distant and most complex structures in the Universe.
