Startrails over Licancabur
Licancabur Volcano sits on the border between Chile and Bolivia and is part of the Andean Central Volcanic Zone. It measures 5916 metres high — much taller than Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe.
This beautiful long-exposure image shows the trails of the stars above Licancabur as they move across the sky. In fact, it is the rotation of the Earth that causes the positions of the stars in the sky to change, and which produces these stunning trails.
