Access to reduced scientific data from the VLT X-shooter spectrograph is now provided from the Science Archive Facility. 33000 spectra of all kinds of sources obtained in ECHELLE,SLIT mode, from the beginning of X-shooter operations in October 2009 until the end of 2013, have been published. The X-shooter reduced data collection will grow with time in monthly release cycles as reduced products become available.
Release of X-shooter Science Data Products
The data consist of extracted, wavelength- and flux-calibrated 1D spectra in tabular format following the standard for ESO science data products. There is normally one spectrum for each of the three X-shooter arms (UVB, VIS, NIR). When downloaded, each spectrum comes with ancillary information related to quality control and observational conditions, and with a preview plot. The data products, tagged XSHOOTER_ECHELLE, can be queried and downloaded using the Phase 3 generic query form, which provides access to all Phase 3 data, or the Phase 3 spectral data query form with fields specific to harvest spectral data.
More details about the released X-shooter data can be found in the associated Phase 3 data release description. Instructions on how to read or display data in the ESO data format can be found in the 1d spectrum help page.
