Leiden Observatory invites applications for a Program Manager position at the European ALMA Regional Center node in the Netherlands, Allegro. The position will be filled at an Assistant or Associate Research Scientist level and is offered for an initial period of up to 6 years. Continuation of employment after that period depends on availability of funding, and on qualifications and performance of the candidate. The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of Allegro and is expected to take an active role in the tasks of the node. These include user support, data quality control, organising workshops and training, and development of new methods for obtaining, processing and analysing ALMA data. In addition, the Program Manager is expected to conduct an active independent research program involving ALMA.
The successful candidate has a PhD in astronomy or related field, extensive expertise with ALMA data and/or similar interferometers, and a strong track record in astronomical research including the use of ALMA. The successful candidate possesses strong managerial and communication skills and the ability to lead a diverse team.
