Latest Comment (June 8, 06:40 UT) : We have now put on the first video from the entry of Venus onto the solar disc - it was obtained by the AGAPE observers at ESO HQ in Garching (Germany). Look also at the AU display above! We are getting the first calculations of the distance from the Earth to the Sun, based on timing data from VT-2004 observers deposited at the central VT-2004 computer - and they are not all that off, only about 2%! There are now reports that observers in different places have seen the dark spot of Venus through special sun viewing glasses, without any telescopic aid. The VT-2004 website experienced about 1500 hits per second (90,000 per minute) - 280 Mbits/sec at the time of the 1st and 2nd contacts - it is now slightly lower. | OTHER WEBSITES | ||||
