History of transit observing

6. List of expeditions in the XVIIth - XIXth centuries

A long list of expeditions to observe the transit of Venus during the events in the XVIIth to XIXth century has been compiled at the Observatoire de Paris and the Institut de Mécanique Céleste et de Calcul des Éphémérides (IMCCE) in France.

It provides an overview of the many expeditions, but it is not complete. It was compiled from bibliographic sources in the Paris Observatory and from some other sites.

It lists the the expeditions ordered by date of transit, giving for each country the observing sites and the names of the astronomers responsible for theobservations.

The table is available on the associated Extended InfoSheet.
