NAME qc_SP_ARC.sh
VERSION 1.0 -- 2006-07-25 fill template by handbook
1.1 -- 2007-12-18 upgraded for qc tutorial migration
1.2 -- 2008-04-24 writeQC replcaes call_qc1_SPARC. get_QC1 kept to fill local db
SYNTAX SHELL
CALL called by processQC vio qc_SP_ARC -d $DATE -f $primfile
INSTRUMENT ISAAC
RAWTYPE SP_ARC
PURPOSE a) generates QC report
b) writes QC1 parameters into local list
The script reads the the OCS.SELECT-ARM (arm of instrument) and calls IS_SP_SA_1night.sh
PROCINPUT a) $DATE in yyyy-mm-dd,
b) $primfile is the PRO.CATG=ARC_COEF product with the _0000.fits extension.
c) raw frames are implicitely read from the AB.
d) Reference ARC_COIEF and ARC_CORRECT are implicitely read from $DFO_QC_DIR/references.

Upper:Collapsed arc spectrum of the upper half array and lowe half array with two different scalings. The optical distortion corrected arc frame is used. + indicate catalog positions, converted from Angstroem to pixel using the dispersion relation. [] indicate observed arc line positions, found by the recipe after the correlation for cross-check. Central: Differences between the observed line position (converted from pixel to Angstroem using the disperison relation) and the closest catalog position. Differences are given in Angstrom.
Lower: f'(x) = the 3rd order dispersion relation minus the mean linear dispersion relation. (The f`(x)=0 at x=256 (=1/4 of the array) and x=768 (=3/4 of the array) ). Differences between the observed line position (converted from pixel to Angstroem using the disperison relation) and the closest catalog position. Differences are given in Angstrom.

ALGORITHM Description of algorithms:
wev use the eclipse command stcube to derive mean ans stdev on certain areas
CERTIF Quality diminishing features (not under control, but tolerated) :
- offsets with respect to reference wave of about 3-5 pixel
- for some settings the pipeline fails
Reasons for rejection:
- strong slopes due to stuck filter wheels
- no flux
- Unsupported wavelength for the LR grating
COMMENTS local difference frames (current product minus last one) and reference difference frames (current product minus reference) are provided in the detailed section of certifyProducts. Night time arcs come with one pair, day-time flats cime with one pair or one triple.
