The ESO Supernova nearly ready to go

The ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre is nearing the final stages of construction. It will be completely free to visit, and is already offering a unique range of free planetarium products, as part of its remit as the world's first open-source planetarium. The novel design of this new building resembles that of a close double-star system, with one star transferring mass to its companion — such systems in space ultimately lead to supernova explosions, appropriately enough, given the name of the project! The existing ESO Headquarters are visible in the background. The complex is located in Garching-Forschungszentrum, readily accessible from Munich. This unique and unmissable attraction will be open to the public from spring 2018.
