The ALMA OSF

The ALMA Operation Support Facility, located at 2900 m altitude on the road to the Chajnantor plateau, one of the very highest astronomical observatory sites on Earth. The OSF is the centre of operations of the ALMA observatory. Three antennas which have already been delivered to the ALMA projects are visible in the “assembly area”. Here the antennas are assembled before being transported to the high site, and they will  return here for periodic maintenance.
