A sanctuary in the desert

One of the most loved spaces inside the Paranal Residencia is its indoor garden, a lush sanctuary in the midst of the arid Chilean Atacama Desert.

In addition to a range of plants, the garden features a swimming pool, whose water provides the otherwise completely dry air within the Residencia with some humidity. This not only helps the plants in the garden to grow, but creates a more comfortable environment for the people who work at one of the driest sites on Earth.
