Family of 66 (antennae)

ALMA — the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array — resides high up in Chile's arid and inhospitable Atacama desert region, where it observes the Universe at wavelengths in between the infra-red and radio regions of the spectrum. This enables it to see the cold Universe, objects only a few degrees above absolute zero, allowing astronomers to observe some of the earliest and most distant galaxies in the Universe. From this perspective the sheer size of each of the 66 ALMA antennae is more apparent, only a few of which are visible in this image.
