Testing of sub-units for ELT PDS
The Phasing and Diagnostic Station (PDS) is an ESO in-house development which is currently in its final design phase. It will be an integral part of the ELT optical system once being integrated and commissioned, presumably in the mid 2020’s. The PDS comprises various sub-units from which some of them shall be tested early in advance.
The subject is comprising several tasks related to laboratory testing and characterization of components at sub-unit level before their integration with the main system:
- Setup and test of the vacuum system for the infrared imager camera.
- Designing and preparing technical drawings of a test setup for performance testing the SUNPOWER 40-Kelvin cryo-cooler system, and providing test support.
- Design, preparation and support for vibration characterization tests of the SUNPOWER cryo-cooler, and of the electrical cabinets of PDS.
