VLT site decision (part 2)

Recorded in December 1990, this historic video documents one of the most important decisions that had to be made regarding the Very Large Telescope (VLT). The participants of this meeting are deciding the future site of the VLT. Cerro Paranal in the Atacama desert, the place that was chosen, is one of the driest places on Earth. Its excellent weather conditions, together with the advanced technology of the VLT, make the telescope the most productive individual ground-based astronomical facility.
