Panning across the Gum 3 nebula

This video gives us a close-up look at the Gum 3 nebula, a stellar nursery located about 3600 light-years away, between the Monoceros and Canis Major constellations. The image was taken with the VLT Survey Telescope (VST), hosted at ESO’s Paranal Observatory in Chile.
