Auxiliary Telescopes
In the foreground are the four Auxiliary Telescopes (ATs), 1.8-m diameter telescopes that feed light into the Very Large Telescope Interferometer at ESO's Paranal Observatory. Uniquely for telescopes of this size, they can be moved from place to place around the VLT platform and are self-contained.
The Large Magellanic Cloud, the Small Magellanic Cloud and the Southern Milky Way band can be appreciated in the background night sky.
