Swedish–ESO Submillimetre Telescope (part 4)

The Swedish–ESO Submillimetre Telescope (SEST) at La Silla Observatory in Chile. The telescope was opened for scheduled observing in 1988 and was decommissioned in 2003. Now, ESO operates the APEX (Atacama Pathfinder Experiment) submillimetre telescope on Chajnantor, where it is also building the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) with international partners.
