Paranal nightfall
Night falls over the Atacama Desert in big distance from Paranal Observatory, home of ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT), and the stars emerge in one of the darkest skies in the world. Paranal enjoys about 300 clear nights per year and, combined with the sophisticated technology of the VLT, these excellent viewing conditions are ideal for astronomers studying the Universe.
