ESO Director General at the VLT
This fisheye projection shows one of the smaller auxiliary telescope's of the ESO Very Large Telescope (VLT), which is visible behind the ESO Director General (2007–2017), Tim de Zeeuw. A truly spectacular sky lies over the scene. The Milky Way appears as a great splash of stars, with the fainter blotches of our neighbouring dwarf galaxies — the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds — also visible.
