APEX image calendar, September 2010 — Chajnantor from above

A far-off view of APEX, the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment telescope, located at 5100 metres above sea level on the Chajnantor plateau in Chile's Atacama region. APEX is the largest submillimetre-wavelength telescope operating in the southern hemisphere, observing the cold and distant Universe for astronomers.
