Flying around the ELT construction site

This spectacular drone footage was filmed in early August of 2023 around Cerro Armazones, home of ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). The telescope will be the world's biggest eye on the sky, and it is now more than 50% complete. Thanks to the hard work of engineers and construction workers onsite in Chile, the giant steel structure is taking shape — it now stands almost 80 metres high and, when complete, will be capable of rotating 360 degrees on a set of 36 trolleys.
