HARMONI

This computer-generated model shows the entire HARMONI instrument. The heart of the instrument is a large, rotating cryostat that houses the Integral Field Spectrograph. This contains pre-optics, field splitters and image slicers, spectrographs and science detectors. The instrument will be one of the first instruments installed on the ELT.

The design of HARMONI makes it easy to calibrate and operate, providing the ELT with "point-and-stare” spectroscopic capabilities ideally suited to fully exploit the scientific potential of the telescope in its early years.
