Paper model of ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope (ELT)
Build your own Extremely Large Telescope!
On a mountain in the Atacama Desert in Chile, the European Southern Observatory (ESO) is building the Biggest Eye on the Sky — a telescope that will revolutionise astronomy for decades to come. The telescope will have a main mirror 39-m in diameter, made of 798 hexagonal segments. You can read more about it here: https://elt.eso.org/
While construction is on-going, you too can get busy building a paper model of this unique telescope. All you need is: A4 paper, a paper cutter or scissors, glue and optionally a ruler and a cutting board. The estimated assembly time is 15 hours.
The dome of the ELT paper model will rotate.
Print the model sheets from here. Download the instructions manual here and have fun!
You can share your models online using #BiggestEyeOnTheSky.
This Paper Model is not available for sale.
