A stop to enjoy the Chilean sky
Amazed by the colourful Milky Way, the ESO Photo Ambassador Petr Horálek takes a stop while driving in the Atacama desert, in northern Chile, to fully enjoy the night sky view. Many are the remarkable features in this fulldome panorama image: the brightest spot in the upper left is the planet Jupiter, while the red blobs along the Milky Way river are Barnard's loop on the upper part — with the famous Orion's Belt at the centre —, and Gum Nebula in the middle, respectively. The elegant Large Magellanic Cloud is also faintly visible, in the lower right part. A greenish airglow frames the sky all around.
