Mounted image 109: Exoplanet Hunters at La Silla
In the search for distant worlds, few telescopes have had as much success as ESO's 3.6-metre telescope and the Swiss 1.2-metre Leonhard Euler Telescope, seen here at the La Silla observatory. The 3.6-metre telescope (left) is home to HARPS, a spectrograph with unrivalled precision which holds many exoplanet records, including the discovery of the least massive exoplanet, as well as of the smallest ever measured. The Leonhard Euler Telescope is also used to search for exoplanets in the southern skies.
