Latino Domefest 2016 – Mundos Posibles (Possible Worlds)

Carl Sagan famously speculated about the possible worlds and lifeforms — intelligent and not — that might exist out there. Places, atmospheres and colours that humans perhaps may not be able to comprehend are depicted here in these abstract visuals.

Short stories told in a fulldome format, such as this, were shown as part of the Latino Dome Fest, which took place in May 2016 at the Medellin Planetarium in Colombia. The aim was to showcase the possibilities that could be achieved with this immersive style, and to introduce and familiarise the public with this alternate audiovisual format.

Such videos could be shown at the upcoming ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre, which will open in spring 2018 in Garching, Munich.
