Looking out over the ELT construction site

Taken in early August 2023, this aerial photograph looks out over the ever-growing structure of ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) and the expanse of the Chilean Atacama Desert. Perched on top of Cerro Armazones, the ELT will be the world’s biggest eye on the sky for visible and infrared observations when completed.
