Unloading the first shipment of the ELT main mirror segments
Taken outside ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) Technical Facility, this photo captures the unloading of some of the ELT’s main mirror segments. A total of 18 segments were delivered safely in this shipment, only a portion of the total 798 segments which will make up the 39-metre main mirror.
