ESO’s 50th anniversary gala event took place on 11 October 2012 in the Kaisersaal in the Munich Residenz (Münchner Residenz, Munich Palace). The Munich Residenz is the former royal palace of the Bavarian monarchs in the centre of the city of Munich, Germany.
