Paranal VST hexapod
A hexapod structure in the VLT Survey Telescope (VST) at Paranal. This hexapod helps rotate the secondary mirror in a technique known as "chopping" that improves observational efficacy. The VST is a state-of-the-art 2.6 m telescope equipped with OmegaCAM, a monster 268 megapixel CCD camera with a field of view four times the area of the full Moon. This image was obtained in March 2009.
