Paranal bus service

These buses transport staff to and from the Paranal Observatory (seen in upper left) atop a mountain in northern Chile. The bus route passes through a residence area, a basecamp and on out to the nearest town, Antofagasta, some 120 km away. An airport there receives commuters from Santiago and visitors from afar.
